About
Thomas Hodges was born in London, England, of mixed English/Italian heritage. He has lived and travelled extensively throughout the world, notably East Asia where he has held residence for more than half of his life. He currently resides between Spain and Italy.
Trained in both business management and as a financial engineer, Thomas worked at a very senior level in the investment banking industry specialising in socially responsible investment (SRI) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) before resigning in 2005 from his then CEO post to pursue his passion as an artist.
Thomas has a unique artistic style, which he terms „Imaginistic“ and in December 2006 whilst residing in Paris, he established the art movement “Imaginism“. His principal subject matter is the study of “Human Sexuality Across Race and Culture”, which although often taboo in context, is a subject matter that he has unwaveringly pursued, notably his portrayal of empowered women.
His figurative works have gained international recognition, and Thomas has works in both private and public collections world-wide. He is best known for his works using the medium of photography, but he actually works with all media, including oils, acrylics and mixed media. He also works as a sculptor, with both small scale and large format public sculptures in his portfolio of projects.
In addition to his figurative works, Thomas has produced acclaimed and award-winning photographic works in a variety of other genre and has produced works for a variety of corporate installations, using a multitude of mixed-media and high-tech installation techniques.
